Tetsuo II: Body Hammer
In 1992, Shinya Tsukamoto directed Tetsuo II: Body Hammer, a science fiction/horror film set in Japan. It is a higher-budget reworking of the same director's 1989 film Tetsuo: The Iron Man, and it employs themes and ideas that are comparable to those of the earlier film as well (a Japanese salaryman, played by cult actor Tomorowo Taguchi, finds his body transforming into a weapon through sheer rage after his son is kidnapped by a gang of violent thugs.) In February1992, it was shown at the 3rd Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, where it won the Critic's Award, despite receiving a less positive reception than its predecessor.
