Mobster"Baby Face" Martin returns home to pay a go to to the New York neighborhood where he grew up, falling in on his mum, who disturbs him due to his gangster lifestyle, and his old girl friend, Francey, today a syphilitic prostitute. Martin crosses paths with Dave, also a childhood friend struggling to make it like a real architect, a group of boys, and the Dead End Kids.
