A nobleman with a flair, the Marquis de Sade lives in a madhouse where a laundry maid smuggles his erotic stories to a printer, exposing orders from the tribe of the asylum. The titillating passages before a conservative physician tries to put an end to the fun, whip most of France into a frenzy.
