Restoration
A young doctor, Robert Merivel found himself in the service of King Charles II and saves the life of somebody close. Merivel lives the high life offered to someone of the position and joins the King's court. To be able to distract the queens suspicions merivel is ordered to marry his King's mistress. He is awarded one order by the king and that isn't to fall in love. When Merivel finds himself deeply in love with his wife, the situation worsens. Finally, the King finds out and relieves Merivel of wealth and the position. His fall from grace leaves Merivel. And during his travels and reunions with an elderly friendhe rediscovers his love to get authentic medicine and just what it means to be a doctor.
