Subsequent to the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine's social and political institutions faced change, for example infrastructure that was crippled and an government. A range of the nation's youth wound homeless and hooked to a lethal cocktail of injected medicine and alcohol. In the early 2000s a warrior from Mariupol appointed Gennadiy Mokhnenko used the struggle against child homelessness by abducting street children and bringing them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center--the largest company of its kind from the former Soviet Union. Gennadiy efforts and unabashedly difficult love way of the issues of his city has left him a hero to get some, and a lawless vigilante to others. Despite criticism, Gennadiy is made to carry on his work.
