Correspondences
Jorge de Sena was compelled to flee his homeland. He first went to Brazil, then to the United States. He never returned to Portugal. He maintained an epistolary correspondence with Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen during his 20-year exile. These letters bear witness to the two poets' deep friendship; they are letters of longing and desire to "fill years of distance with hours of conversation." A dialogue is established through excerpts and verses, revealing their divergent opinions but mostly their strong bond, and their efforts to preserve it until their last breaths.
