Good Morning
A light hearted take on the perennial subject of the struggles of intergenerational relationships of director Yasujiro Ozu Morning tells the story of two young boys who stop speaking in protest after their parents will not buy a television set. Shot in stunning color and put in a suburb of Tokyo where housewives gossip about the neighbors' new automatic washer and unemployed husbands start looking for act as doortodoor salesmen, this magical comedy refashions Ozu's very quiet classic I Was Born, But... to gently satirize consumerism in post war Japan.
