Baccano!
This is a series of Japanese light novels written by Ryohgo Narita and drawn by Katsumi Enami. The series is mostly set in a fictional United States over several time periods, most notably the Prohibition era, and is sometimes recounted from multiple points of view. It focuses on disparate characters, including alchemists, robbers, thugs, Mafiosi, and Camorristi, who are unrelated. After recreating an immortality elixir in 1930s Manhattan, the characters begin to cross paths, causing events to spiral further out of control. ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint has published twenty novels as of March 2013. The first novel was published in February 2003. The novels were converted into a sixteen-episode television anime series directed by Takahiro Omori and produced by Brain's Base and Aniplex. The first thirteen episodes broadcast on WOWOW from July 26, 2007 to November 1, 2007; the final three episodes were released directly-to-DVD. The series has also been turned into a two-volume manga, a Nintendo DS adventure video game, and two drama CDs. A novel was issued alongside the first drama CD, and two gaiden novels were released in installments alongside the DVDs of the anime adaptation.
