Degrassi Junior High

As part of the Degrassi series, Degrassi Junior High is a Canadian teen drama show that ran on CBC TV from 1987 to 1989. The show was about a group of students at the made-up school with the same name as the show. Many episodes dealt with tough issues like drug use, child abuse, teen pregnancy, homosexuality, homophobia, racism, and divorce, and the show was praised for how sensitively and realistically it showed the problems that teenagers face. Most of the actors weren't professionals, which made the show feel more real. Many of the actors on the show were also on The Kids of Degrassi Street a few years earlier, like Stacie Mistysyn, Neil Hope, Anais Granofsky, Sarah Charlesworth, and others. But their names and family situations were changed, so Degrassi Junior High can't be thought of as a direct spinoff. Stephen Stohn, who later became the executive producer of Degrassi: The Next Generation, was the legal advisor for all of the episodes. The show was filmed at the Vincent Massey Public School in Etobicoke, Ontario, which was not being used at the time.
