The story follows Aino, a native of Finnish Lapland, and Micke, a Swedish-speaker, as they navigate their lives as an urban, bilingual, environmentally aware left-wing couple in their thirties. They are compelled to relocate to an affluent area, where they will live in an apartment owned by Micke's wealthy parents, who also live next door. People from all walks of life congregate in Aino's guest room when his yokel brother moves in.
