My Super Sweet 16
My Super Sweet 16 is an MTV reality show that follows the lives of teenagers in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom who have wealthy parents who throw extravagant coming-of-age parties. Quinceaneras, sweet sixteens, and other birthdays such as My Super Sweet 21 and My Super Swag 18 are all celebrated. On January 18, 2005, the show premiered. Hilary Duff sings the opening theme, "Sweet Sixteen." A number of celebrity coming-of-age parties have also been featured on the show. Bow Wow, Sean Kingston, Aly and AJ, Chris Brown, and Soulja Boy Tell Em's parties have all been featured on the show. MTV produced a Spanish version of the show called "Quiero mis quinces" or "Super Dulces 16." MTV launched a spinoff called Exiled in 2008. Several My Super Sweet 16 participants' parents are sent to remote countries to see if their "sweet sixteener" will survive the harsh conditions. In2009, MTV announced their newest addition to the franchise, My Super Psycho Sweet16, a horror film based on the concept of the show that aired on October23,2009, starring Julianna Guill.
