Spider-Man: The New Animated Series
Spider-Man: The New Animated Series is an American animated series based on the Marvel comic book superhero Spider-Man, which premiered on July 11, 2003 and ran for one season and thirteen episodes. It is a loose continuation of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film from 2002. The show was produced with CGI rendered in cel shading and broadcast on MTV and YTV. Eight months after the series finale, ABC Family broadcast repeats of the episodes as part of the Jetix programming block. The series presented a significantly more mature depiction of the character than is generally seen in animated comic book adaptations on television. Throughout the series, characters are explicitly killed, as opposed to the customary ambiguous disappearance, and various characters' sexual activity is overtly hinted.
