The Ben Stiller Show
The Ben Stiller Show was a sketch comedy television show that aired on MTV from 1990 to 1991, and subsequently on Fox from September 1992 to January 1993. Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk appear in the Fox sitcom. Every episode also featured character actor John F. O'Donohue. It featured various taped comedic bits, many of which parodied pop culture from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Despite mainly positive feedback, Fox canceled the show after only 12 episodes due to low ratings. The Ben Stiller Show, unlike most sketch comedy shows, did not use a studio audience or a laugh track. This was the only Fox sketch comedy show that did not have a laugh track. The Andy Dick Show, a semi-spinoff, followed the same format. Following its discontinuation, the series earned the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series in 1993.
